In preparation for my final assignment for this EDFD459 unit, we were asked to conceptualise and design a future learning space (FLS) for young learners in a challenging global environment. The inspiration for this project will be drawn from one of the nine Teachers Without Boarders (TWB) initiatives and will incorporate at least one of the learning spaces that we investigated in Module 2.

I have chosen to focus on 'Child-friendly Spaces' in regards to Zaatara Refugee Camp in Syria. I specifically chose this area due to the amount of children, as over 50% of the refugees are students aged under 18. "Almost overnight the United Nations (UN) was forced to set up a refugee camp, and what started as a few tents has now grown into a city of about 100,000 people" and children. Now the number has grown to 2,841,524. Due to war, these children have been forced out of their familiar environments. My goal for my FLS is to make an space that is supportive and comfortable for students who have lost so much.

Head to this page for more details on this topic and click here to gain some insight into the area, people and children I would be wanting to cater for.
