Child-Friendly Spaces
The aim of Child-friendly spaces is to support and protect children in emergencies situations (TWB, n.d). Wold Vision state that "children are the most vulnerable group during conflict" (2013, n.1). These spaces provide young people with a safe place to play, participate in activities, learn about their rights to health and protection and experience healing from the trauma they have experienced.
The UN convention of rights stated that "parties shall protect the child from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse" (1989, article 19). This will work towards creating a global network of schools that provide educational opportunities in areas where it is needed.
This initiative will allow for all physical aspects of learning to be catered for. Classroom considerations for this include safety, clean water and sanitation, inside and outside places, long-term considerations and support meaningful activities.
These actions are done to bring back a sense of normalcy of children again.
